So sad to hear of Trevor's passing, my condolences to the Morris family. He was a great coach, family friend, and neighbour. Coaching my mum at PES, then me, he gave so much time to the school and the students. He had us up for 7am volleyball practice and running laps through the halls of the school. Beyond PES he always followed along with my athletics in whatever way possible. For someone with a flip phone, he somehow could find all my track results from across the country online! When him and Zoey would walk by our house, he would always ask me about my sports and my teammates from PES. I am very thankful to have been coached and supported by Trevor and his love of athletics.

It's with much sorrow to hear of the passing of Trevor Morris. I know many students and teachers, that have had the privilege to have known him, and can say for certain the world is losing an incredible part of its humanity.
After talking to some of the many that he had taught, I was glad to hear or the many selfless acts of care for his students, and wonderful memories that will live on for years to come. He truely lived a wonderful life and never stopped doing what he loved.
I his loving family, and friends, I offer my prayers and condolences for a great lost.
Lord, Hear our Prayer
Please keep Trevor Morris safe at your eternal banquet of the lamb,
as he fell asleep waiting for your second coming,
and now rests in the sleep of peace.
Please watch over those he leaves behind with love and care, as he is not dead, but is now by your side in newness of eternal life.
We pray in Christ, the Lord's Name, who lives and reines, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God,forever and ever

My deepest sympathy to Marie and family. I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear, former colleague and friend. While teaching at PES, my fondest memories are those with Trevor and traveling to Moncton for provincial volleyball tournaments, winter carnival activities, and conversations concerning struggling students. He always made time to chat when out in the community , whether refereeing at my present school, at various thrift stores , and most recently at Shoppers Drug Mart. I have been blessed by his influence and will miss his presence dearly.

I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Trevor’s passing. I did not know him when we were younger as he was a couple years ahead of me at SJHS but his athletics were stuff of legend. I believe some of his track records are still unbroken. I got to know Trevor when I went to work at the school board as an electrician in 95. PES was starting to show its age and it needed plenty to get it to more modern safety standards. That brought to his gym. Our conversations were fun and light and he was so happy to get equipment and heaters fixed. While working there i was lucky to see him in his natural habitat with his “kids”. There was mutual respect and with the smiles and laughter while they went through the drills I realized it just wasn’t an athletic endeavour. He was maybe unknowingly building character. He was genuinely concerned with their lives and was in a position to improve them which he did. He had as much fun as they did. One day they were setting up for a basketball tournament and I saw they had an old school system of scoring, by flipping numbered cards. I told Trevor there was an old score clock in the basement of Milligeville and would he like me to try and fix it up and mount it in his gym. Well, Trevor’s eyes lit up and remember distinctly him saying “ you could do that for us ? “. Wasn’t a big deal but we fixed it up, mounted it to the right of the stage and we were in business. He embarrassed me by making the kids thank me but it was a pleasure. I wonder if it’s still there. Trevor and I loved skiing, and used to see him off and on at Poley and at the time both of us were struggling to keep our old Volkswagen Jettas going . We sometimes ran into each other and he always had time for a laugh or two. He will be missed by so many and if they are building a big new school as planned in the north end his name on it would be a fitting tribute. Bruce Webb

My deepest condolences to Marie, his kids and all of his family and friends. I have been privileged to know many amazing individuals who became friends. Trevor was one of the best people I have ever known so as I read the sincere tributes attested to him, I would have expected nothing less. He was exceedingly humble so I never knew of his many accomplishments prior to attending UNB for Physical Education. We became friends and in our final year roommates along with another Phys. Ed’er, Wayne on the second floor of an old house. Trevor and I also played on a very dominant UNB Ironmen Rugby Team 1973. Every weekend Trevor would drive back to Saint John and while I never met Marie personally, I knew she had captured his heart. Trevor was energetic in almost everything he did and he had a special glint in his eye when he mentioned Marie. This year is the 50th Year Reunion of our UNB Physical Education 1974 graduation class. Mike Burden, a mutual friend and classmate phoned me this past Thursday (25th) and shared the deeply sad news of Trevor’s passing. Mike knew who much I wanted to reconnect with Trevor and share what his friendship had meant to me.
The lesson: Share with friends how much you ( love, value, etc ) them.

My sincere sympathy goes out to Marie, Brian, Lindsay and the Morris family at the passing of Trevor. A good husband, father and brother. A friend through the mutual love of education and the educating of children through the medium of Sport. We met many times either at cross country meets, track meets or if our school teams played each other. What I enjoy particularly when we met was our conversations about the students we were coaching and when asked Trevor was readily quick to give some help with coaching and to compliment you if you had a good team: win or lose as the case maybe. Our conversations were Always
up beat. I remember this final note here and it has always stuck with me and it told me what a caring man/father he was, and I quote "thanks for giving Lindsay the award" my reply after the shock to hear this from a parent for the first time ever after having given out years of awards was "she deserved it".

Trevor and I shared a 65 year friendship.I was fortunate to have also resided on Cranston Ave. and attended PES grade 1 to 9, SJHS and UNBSJ with Trevor. We both married our high school sweethearts and remained friends as couples.
Nobody could outrun or out compete Trevor. Even as 10 year olds playing table hockey at his house I was not allowed to leave until he had beat me at least once. As a spectator, student or team manager I was able to witness Trevor excel at track and field, soccer and rugby.
He touched the lives of hundreds of students, athletes and friends. You could fill a book with Trevor stories. PES should name their gym and/or field after him.
We have lost a good one and are truly saddened.

Sending my deepest condolences to Mr.Morris’ family. I had the privilege of having Mr. Morris as a coach at PES for soccer and volleyball. At the time, soccer was my sport and I was thrilled to have such a great coach for the school team. Throughout the grade 6 soccer season, Mr.Morris and I had several arguments regarding me playing volleyball in the spring. I insisted that I was only a soccer player, and had absolutely no interest in volleyball. That was simply not an option in Mr. Morris’ mind. I found him waiting at my locker on the first day of volleyball tryouts and he forced me to play. Here I am, 12 years later, still playing with friends that I met in volleyball back then. I often think of how grateful I am for his determination. As an adult, I was always thrilled to show up to the soccer field for women’s league and see that Mr. Morris was our referee. He will be so missed and I am so grateful to have had him as a coach and friend.

Any credit that emerges must be attributed to this exceptional individual-very little to those who taught him. One just got out of the way and watched Trevor being Trevor. My first day at PES was Trevor's first day teaching. We meet each other the summer before as he played for the Drydock Softball team. My father coach that team and I was the "batboy". I was amazed how a person could run so fast. Later that summer we meet at New River Beach. He was with his girlfriend (wife) and I was with my family. We ended up playing in the cold waves and having a catch. He was a "Idol" to me
Then we meet again at PES. I wanted him to be proud of me so I worked hard at ever sport I played and I played them all. He was a great coach. We never lost a soccer game in the three years I was there. He became a friend. I will never forget, in grade 9, sitting in his office having lunch together. Then I would go practice shooting a basketball.
I talked to him last summer for the first time in years. We were planning on getting together if time would have allowed.

Mr Morris,
Being a 10/11 year old at a brand new school can feel overwhelming especially when a new language is introduced and all brand new kids…(French immersion PES)..but gym time and sports well that was where I could be myself and every year would start out with that damn obstacle course and I always wanted to get over that hurdle thing better than the year before hahahaha I once jumped on that spring and nearly missed the mat…you ran to move the mat to catch me from a bad fall….”come on FRAULEY” (always called me by my last name) hahahaha fast forward playing on your soccer team was a blast and an honour that you’d choose me. The introduction of lacross and ringette game with the stick with no blade….was so fun during gym class and those little things we would sit on with the wheels on the bottom …..you worked the dances and you brought us outside for baseball…..you ran the lunchtime sports. I was such a tomboy in middle school Hahahhaha but I absolutely loved all your ideas of fun! I always adored Josh as well! Rest in peace and if there are any sports teams up there I’m sure you’re already recruited. Much love!

He had us doing this huge obstacle course, you were climbing over these huge horse things, or doing chin ups , it was pretty intense . I was in better shape back then and he approached me and said " you're playing soccer " I said "no I'm not, I don't know how to play " He replied " I'll teach you " That he did ! And every other sport he coached I played.
I remember jogging outside around the neighborhood before school started in the mornings , there were a few of us and of course he himself lead our group. The man never stopped lol and because of his love for sports, we were the luckiest kids to have him as our mentor !
I could go on with a few more stories, but I won't. If he taught you , you have similar stories too !
I will end by saying "Thank you Mr.Morris " for such great memories during my years at PES and may you REST IN PEACE .
To the Morris family I am so very sorry for your loss .

My heart aches for Marie and their children .. for 65 years I have been a close friend of Trevor’s … growing up on Cranston Ave just a couple of houses apart we did everything together in those years. Played sports on PES , walked to the old forum on Main Street , biked to Crystal or Dominion Park beaches , played in the Webber’s or Crawfords back yard, snaring rabbits in Boars Head and on it goes
We had a tremendous time growing up together ..
I have always said that whenever I met Trevor and a couple of other close buddies from the hood … it’s like we never miss a beat

Sincere condolences to Marie and the whole family.
I was at PES for 9 years, and every story I tell about those years revolves around Mr. Morris. He was the guy behind it all, whether it was intramurals at lunch, soccer teams, and for me particularly, cross country or track. I will forever be grateful for the coaching, encouragement, and support he gave me as a runner, as it made me feel like I could be a genuine "athlete." That experience helped shape a lifetime of sports involvement as an athlete, coach, and volunteer.
I have many fun and funny memories of him and my years at PES. Later in life, I have appreciated how much they have shaped my life. His neverending interest and dedication to his students and their success over the years at PES make him my "greatest of all time" teacher!

I was lucky enough to be one of Trevors first students at PES. He was a giant of a mentor and a coach to me and my brother Dan. Always encouraging, challenging us to improve with hard work, yet have fun along the way. Those of us who were lucky enough to have been taught, coached, mentored by such a positive force, Mr. Morris prepared us for the field of play and the game of life. I don't think there are enough words to articulate just how much he meant to us all.
My most heartfelt and deepest condolence to Marie and family. God Bless.
Much love and gratitude from Vancouver, BC

I can't talk about my childhood without thinking of Mr. Morris and telling my kids how great he was as a coach and teacher. I'll never forget how he mispronounced my last name (Deas) as he made me go show my class how to do a round up during gym class. He made everyone feel special.

I first met Trevor in April of 1975. From the very outset, not only did he welcome me to PES but he also welcomed me to his home. Both Trevor and Marie appreciated my many visits over the years. From playing cards, (particularly crib), and watching Trevor pull some clandestine crib trickery, (all in good fun), shopping with Trevor in Maine, golfing in New Hampshire or just hanging out was always a delightful and fun-filled adventure. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to teach beside you at PES for 32 years, and particularly honored to be your friend, Trevor. You left us way too soon. See you on the court, My friend. Your serve.

Morris family,
I had the amazing pleasure of having Mr. Morris as both a coach and a teacher. I am sure I was responsible for more than one gray hair on his head during my 3 years at PES specially after having to drive me to the hospital twice to get stitches. For many of us kids that grew up without a father figure in our lives he was the best role model a person could have and many of us wouldn't be where we are today without his guidance and coaching... I know I wouldn't be. He taught me what dedication and hard work was and how far you can get if you strive for excellence in all that you do. And for that I thank him. To the entire Morris family, Thank you for sharing this amazing man with us and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Rest Easy Mr. Morris

Trevor was an exception teacher, coach, athlete. I have numerous fond memories of Trevor from my years working at PES, from his passion for sports and physical educatuon, to his constant search for his glasses (usually found on his head). Most of my sports jerseys, and even my ski boots, were finds of Trevor. He left his mark on many, and he will forever be missed. Rest in peace my friend.
