Obituary of Arnold Ritchie
It is with great sadness that James "Arnold" Ritchie born March 12, 1928, to Lucien and Jessie (McIntyre) Ritchie passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the amazing age of 95.
Arnold was a wonderful Dad to his daughter, Susan (Scott Logan) and Papa to his granddaughters: Sarah Joel Wionzek, Savannah (James Jenkins), and Sierrah (Logan Stepanick), his sister: Mary Lou McEvoy and his brother: Jim Ritchie as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arnold worked at Malone's Grocery as a clerk and delivery man. He worked at various places: Swift's Meat products as a meat cutter, the Saint John Sugar Refinery in the Shipping Department and B. F.Goodrich as a Service Manager where he met the LOVE of his life Rosalie (Parsons). In 1961, he began working at Moosehead Breweries as a labourer and a truck driver for 32 years.
Arnold was a faithful member of St. Peter's church where he was an usher for 50 years. Arnold enjoyed golf in his younger years and bowling in his later years with Rosalie. He was extremely lucky playing cards which he continued until his death. Arnold liked to joke with others and liked to show his egg trick to others.
Arnold will greatly be missed!
Arnold was predeceased by his parents, his sisters: Rose Marie Ritchie, Mary Eileen Ritchie, Jessie Phillips, Helen Wood, Winnifred Ritchie, Betty Hill. His brothers: Lucien, Bob, Struan and Michael.
In remembrance of Papa, Arnold, please go to Dairy Queen and order a medium ice cream cone and eat it with a red spoon. He enjoyed his sweets!
The family would like to Thank Floor 4A North at Saint John Regional Hospital for their support and aide while Arnold was in the hospital.
