Lisa Thomasson posted a condolence
Thursday, September 26, 2024
Hello, my name is Lisa Thomasson. I am so sorry to hear of Manny’s passing. Manny and I were housemates in a shared house in the beginning years of AECC. The house wasn’t great so we ended up moving out and renting a nicer two bed flat together. I have such fond memories of this time - we had a great time even though we were two very different people.
He taught me the wonders of cream in your coffee instead of milk, how taking a few “mental health days” a year when you feel good saves you needing to take them for real and I was captivated on all his conspiracy theory knowledge! We binged watched a whole two series of Prison break on a rainy wet weekend when we should have been studying for exams and when we had group study sessions with other friends at our flat, Manny was the one who kept us all cool with his calm demeanour and his soft voice as we all
flapped around stressing!
Sincere condolences to his family and close friends. May you rest in eternal peace, Manny - thank you for the great times x

I was very sad to hear of my good friend’s passing.
I admired the joy and passion he had for music. He was so engaging and it was easy to see how kind a person he was in everything he did.
He loved Phantom of the Opera and Meatloaf songs. He was amazing at piano and Saxophone.
He took care of my Dog, Duchess, when my Dad could no longer do it. We were glad she had a good home.
He came from a loving and caring family. He took me to Camden market when I visited London, which was quite the eye opener for me. We played tennis a lot. I remember how much fun it was to see him and I would enjoy the long bike ride to his house. I also remember he ,Jordan Zed and I had a band and worked on songs in his drive way. We would all play basketball in back of his garage, super fun times. We tried skateboarding but that didn’t pan out :)
I want to give the family my condolences and thank them for reaching out to me.
I’m sure he is in a better and more peaceful place now.
He was a terrific friend and I miss him.

I was very saddened to hear of Manny's passing. We went to school together in the UK, he was ahead of me by a year or two. It was probably my first week there and I saw someone with a Roots bag, so I asked him if he's a fellow Canadian.
From the first time I met him, he was always the nicest of guys, soft spoken, with a disarming smile. He was always up for pizza and a movie.
We unfortunately lost touch after graduation. He wasn't big on social media, I moved around a lot, and time passes. He will always be a part of my best memories from my time in the UK.
My sincerest condolences to the family.

My condolences to Dorthy and Nathaniel. I was lucky enough to get to travel to to the UK with Manny and Daniel Jenkins. What a time we had. Later I stayed in the UK, where Manny and I would get together while he was studying in Bournemouth. There wasn’t a wittier person I know and we shared a number of great times laughing and enjoying good company. The world is a little less without Manny, and I know all who knew him will feel that loss.

Dorothy and Nathaniel, I am so, so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the void you must be feeling. For a quiet guy he touched so many people’s lives. He was such an empathetic person and always wanting to help others. He certainly helped me get through some dark days. He was great fun and a lover of all animals (though I know he secretly preferred my cat, Gino, over my dog Rose!) Even the animals recognized his loving and caring ways.
I will never forget his cooking, as we cooked many meals together. He made the best chicken/beef curry, and despite his many instructions, still to this day I still can’t make it as good as he did! I always think of him when I “attempt” to make it his way, and I always will. I will miss talking with him about all the crazy new supplements we are experimenting with for various things and I will miss him checking my car’s oil! I ran into him at Subway not long ago, and he couldn’t resist checking my oil and adding some to it. He was one of a kind! All my love to you both!

Thank-you Tania for the incredibly kind words. I'll also miss his cooking. I watched closely but never could make sauces and roasts the same as him either! Never came out the same. He was kind and giving until the end, and will be dearly missed. Take care.

Dorothy and Nathaniel: I am in shock. I have so many wonderful memories biking with Emmanuel in Renforth and East Riverside, playing constantly at your place with the birds chirping in the background, playing in the yard by the wild rose bushes, down by the Renforth dock, getting way too many treats at Colwell's and of course all the twists and turns at school. I remember dreaming as young boys about building our own go karts and actually making our own VHS imitations of Stephen King horror movies for school projects. We had vivid imaginations. I am deeply saddened and so so sorry for your loss. Much love and affection, Jordan
